Welcome to Black Diamond! If you're reading this it means you're either contracted, hired, or visiting Black Diamond. We're happy to have you, we hope you'll enjoy your time here.
Black Diamond has a culture of empathy, acceptance, always learning, and high-velocity/speed. In your first few weeks here, it is entirely expected for you to be confused, feel like you don't understand something, and feel like something is missing. This handbook is meant to be your guide and help acclimate you to our organization. If you ever feel like you're missing or need something, speak out, say something, or ask a question. There are no stupid questions, we're all here to help each other grow and learn.
Listed below are the next steps for your onboarding. You will need to go through this list and complete all items on this list.
Immediate Steps
- Setup your Gmail Account, which we use for email. You should have recieved credentials in the onboarding email sent to your personal email.
- Setup your email signature. You can copy the email signature for Black Diamond from your onboarding email. Copy it, customize it, and put it into Gmail.
- Login to your Google Calendar, and Share Your Calendar with ctimberlake@blackdiamondlv.com.
- Sign into Slack, our real-time collaboration tool. You should be able to sign into Slack utilizing your Google Credentials.
- Sign into Black Diamond Learn to view all internal training courses.
- Sign up to GitLab with your Black Diamond E-Mail. GitLab is used for development and is our primary partner.
- Your username should be the initial of your first name, your last name, then _bdd. For example, ctimberlake_bdd.
- Request Access to our Corporate GitLab Group.
- Bookmark our Corporate GitLab Group and our FOSS GitLab Group.
- Install Tailscale on your Macbook. You can login to Tailscale with your Google Account for direct access.
- Login to our Plane.so Workspace via Google. Plane is our project management tool throughout Black Diamond.

Sign up for, and complete, the GitLab Solutions Architect Core class.

Sign up for, and complete, the Professional Sales Accreditation for Partners class.

Next Steps (180 Days) - For All Engineers
- Black Diamond participates in the partner programs for multiple cloud organizations. As such, they require that we have engineers on staff that are certified. While Black Diamond does not require certifications to be hired. We do require that people a certification from each of our partners every six months. The exam cost is reimbursed by Black Diamond.
